145 tennis players at the Open de la Baie in Douarnenez – Douarnenez

The traditional Bay Open was held from July 24 to August 4. This second edition at the new Ploaré complex has kept all its promises, with a participation of 145 competitors against 110 in 2021. On Thursday August 4, in the finals, the Parisian Hugo Pierre won in the men’s and the British Nyah Kauders in the ladies.

Among the gentlemen, Hugo Pierre from the Montrouge club (92) defeated Alexandre Ruscica, licensed in Saint-Priest (69). Everything had however started well for Ruscica, already a finalist in 2021. The Rhodanian won 6-1, in the first set. It was without counting without the determination and the mental of Hugo Pierre. The Montrouge player won 6-3 in the second set and left his opponent no chance in the last set (6-1).

An international women’s final

Britain’s Nyah Kauders won against Alisha Moldakhmetova, from Kazakhstan. Passing through Brittany this summer, the two players continued their studies in the United States. With more than 180 members, 210 including the “discovery” packages, the tennis club has recorded a good increase in its workforce. “The Douarnenez club has recorded a 77% increase in its workforce,” explained Alain Baugé, president of the Finistère Departmental Committee, during the award ceremony.

The novelty of the new school year for the Douarnenist club will be the arrival of Romain Jouan, as a tennis teacher. Former 209th player in the world and still 90th in France, Romain Jouan won the Open de la Baie in 2021. On Saturday September 10, the tennis club is organizing an open house at the Ploaré complex. “It will also be an opportunity to discover the padel court, one of the few in the area”, recalls Isabelle Gourmelen, president of the Douarnenist club.
