Andy Carroll cut short his honeymoon for a trial in Bruges, but misses out on… / Belgium / Club Bruges /

The to lose of the weekend.

Far from the attractive player he was at the start of the 2010s, Andy Carroll is now struggling to survive in the professional world of football. Aged 33 and currently without a club after a timid six-month stint with West Bromwich in the Championship (5 pawns in 22 games), the English international (nine caps, two goals) had decided to take some time for himself and go on honeymoon in Tulum, Mexico.

But according to the Mirror, the former Liverpool striker did not hesitate to cut short his honeymoon when an opportunity arose in Belgium, at Club Brugge. However, what followed did not go as he had hoped: failing the physical and mental tests of the reigning Belgian champion, Carroll did not satisfy the club’s management, who decided not to make an offer of trial period. Result: a ruined honeymoon and an extended stay at Pôle Emploi.

Double blow for the Carroll couple.
