Basketball – U12 selections: girls provide, boys disappoint

After several days of preparation, the U 12 Quercy Garonne selection moved to Rodez for the TIC (Inter Committee Tournament). This selection, which brings together the best potential from all the clubs in the territory, was made up of 10 boys with 2 substitutes and 10 girls with 3 substitutes.

The men’s selection, coached by Aurélien Hanrard from the Bleuets de Grisolles club, assisted by Laurine Masschelier from Montech basket and Thibault Cavé from Montauban Basket club, played 5 games over 3 days for a record of one victory and 4 defeats, determining 10th.

A group which did not lack offensive talent, but which failed cruelly in the fighting spirit and the defensive energy to be able to compete with the best.

As for the girls, managed by Alexia Larroque from BC Montpezat de Quercy assisted by Léo Mariuzzo Montauban basketclub and Brayan Ben Arrais from Moissac Castelsarrasin BB, they finished 6th with 2 wins and 3 losses. Unlike the boys, they showed constant combativeness, which compensated for their many technical shortcomings and enabled them to win matches.

Despite these low rankings, these young U12s have had a unique experience that will not fail to help them progress. Their state of mind was irreproachable in the competition as during the calm times.
The committee is studying new avenues of work, with the aim of technically improving the new selections.
