Second last weekend at the Scottish Open, Céline Boutier kicked off her week perfectly at Muirfield by signing an excellent 68 (-3) which currently places her in 5th place at the AIG Women’s Open. Three lengths behind the Japanese Hinako Shibuno, alone in the lead at -6 (65).
This coupé missed at Evian a fortnight ago seems to have been definitively forgotten for Celine Boutier. Only second last Sunday at the Women’s Scottish Open with four cards under par and a total score of -18 (270), the Frenchwoman continues in the best possible way this Thursday at Muirfield for the kick off of the 22nd Great Britain Open in Major mode.

The current world No. 17 has indeed signed an excellent 68 (-3) with five birdies against two bogeys conceded. A perfect start, despite difficult playing conditions (a wind blowing on average between 30 and 35 km/h in the afternoon with gusts timed at times over 40 km/h), which allows him to take – very tentatively – fifth place in the standings. Three lengths from the Japanese Hinako Shibunowinner of British 2019 at Woburn.
” It was a pretty solid day, with a lot of windsums up the Ile-de-France resident in Dallas (Texas). It was difficult to get a lot of birdie opportunities because it’s really hard to get close enough to the flag. But my putting saved me, especially for pars. It helped me a lot on this course today. »

His stats for this first round are quite contrasting with only 4 fairways hit out of 14 for 30 putts but also with 15 greens out of 18 taken in regulation…
” It’s really not easy hereshe resumes, especially with the wind, especially on the short game. When chipping and putting, having to take the wind into account, it’s true that it’s not always easy. It’s also not easy to trust each other all the time. Afterwards, it’s true that playing here is quite legendary. I was really looking forward to seeing the course. And with the conditions we had today, it’s a good challenge. I am very happy to be able to have a few more laps on this course… »
