Christian Cévaër in the top 10 of a tournament bringing together a host of former glories on the circuit

A week after The Open Senior, won at Gleneagles by Darren Clarke (pictured here with Christian Cévaër), the stars of the Legends Tour had an appointment in England on the JCB Golf and Country Club course to contest one of the events labeled “Celebrity Series”.

In the original Celebrity Series format, pro players share their evenings with distinguished guests. After the MCB Championship in Mauritius in April, a stage in Jersey in June, it was in the heart of England that the players aged 50 and over on the Legends Tour met last week.

Among the big names in golf are Ernie Els, Darren Clarke, Colin Montgomerie, Vijay Singh, Paul Lawrie, José María Olazábal or John Daly.

“It’s a nice format, very relaxed. We share a good time, we tell jokes and we make birdies. sums up the American mullet-cutting pioneer, long before Cam Smith, in his two major victories in 1991 at the PGA Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club and in 1995 at The Open at St Andrews.

Five French players also took part in this 10th of the 17 tournaments on the senior circuit calendar. After three rounds, Christian Cevaer finished in 8th place alongside Colin Montgomerie 6 shots behind winner Alex Cejka.

Jean Van de Velde finished 39th, Jean-François Remesy 47th, Thomas Levet 53rd, and Marc Farry 58th.

Note that the Legends Tour will stop at the Golf de St Cloud from September 15 to 17 on the occasion of the “Legends Open de France hosted by Jean Van de Velde”.
