Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first player to score in five editions of the World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo enters a little more into the legend. This Thursday, the fivefold Ballon d’Or opened its counter but during the 2022 World Cup against Ghana (3-2). Thus, the 37-year-old Portuguese is now the only player in history to have scored at least one achievement in five World Cups. If he found the net once in 2006 (against Iran, 2-0), in 2010 (against South Korea, 7-0) and in 2014 (against Ghana, 2-1 ), CR7 had scored four goals in 2018 in Russia: a hat-trick against Spain (3-3) and an achievement ahead of Morocco (1-0).

The man with eight goals in the World Cup is now ahead of Pelé (1958-1970) as well as the Germans Miroslav Klose (2002-2014) – top scorer in the history of the competition with 16 goals – and Uwe Seeler (1958-1970 ), which had found the net in four successive editions. The Portuguese, who has consolidated his status as top scorer in history in selection football (118 goals in 192 caps), can however join Eusebio in the rank of top scorer for the Seleçao in the World Cup (9 goals in 1966 ).
