Eastbourne tournament: the “Onsrena” pair forfeit the semi-finals

Ons Jabeur and Serena Williams withdrew on Thursday for their doubles semi-final of the Eastbourne tournament organized in the south of England from June 19 to 25.

This is what emerged from the official statement of the organizers of the Eastbourne grass tournament, consulted by the Anadolu Agency.

After beating Japan’s Shuko Aoyama and Taiwan’s Hao-Ching Chan (6-2, 6-4) in straight sets in the quarter-finals, the “Onsrena” pair as they were nicknamed withdrew due to a Tunisian tennis player’s knee injury.

This is the first time that American tennis star Serena Williams and Arab world tennis icon Ons Jabeur have played doubles together. They have never faced each other in singles either.

The two tennis players competing at Wimbledon should therefore head for the western suburbs of London to participate in the 2022 edition scheduled for June 27 to July 10.
