While the Raf formalized, Monday, November 21, the appointment of Didier Santini as coach, Center Presse offers a return on the passages of his predecessors for almost 25 years.
Frederic Hantz (1998-2001)
After filing for bankruptcy in 1993, the club went through a period of instability, with the threat of financial problems. It is in this context that Hantz was appointed coach in 1998, in the CFA, just after having stopped his playing career. The 4th place won in 2000 gives desires of National but the club, unstable behind the scenes, goes down a year later.
Daniel Periault (2001-2003)
For his second stint on the Ruthenian bench (after 1993-1994), Périault landed in a delicate context. After 5th place in the first season, Rodez continues on a difficult season and avoids the descent in DH at goal average…
Régis Brouard (2003-2006)
The Renewal Coach. The young retiree and former Raf player Michel Poisson was appointed by the new Nesson-Gayrard-Mori management, whose ambition was to start a more virtuous cycle. Régis Brouard has put together a team with an attractive game and obtained the promotion to the CFA in the first season. Enough to thrill Paul-Lignon again, with also a 32nd final against Metz (1-2), in 2005. Then, the Raf failed twice for the long-awaited rise in National.
Frank Rizetto (2006-2011)
A climb and an unforgettable epic. After hanging up the crampons, the former favorite leader of Paul-Lignon put on the coach’s costume. Under his orders, the Raf rose to National (2007) and obtained the most prestigious victory in its history, against Paris Saint-Germain (3-1 ap), with an epic completed in the quarter-finals, in 2009 in Rennes (2-0). The end was less glorious, with relegation to the CFA (2011).
Rui Pataca (2011-2012)
For his first coaching experience, the Portuguese’s mission was clear: immediate recovery. The Raf failed in 2nd place, far enough from the surprise Uzès, and his adventure in Aveyron ended at the start of the following season, after only five games, on a taste of failure.
Franck Plenecassagne (2012-2015)
Arrived to the rescue, the technician who had hoisted the Rafettes in Division 1 played the firefighters by ensuring the maintenance. Confirmed later, he came close to the climb (2nd) and experienced the joys of a 32nd final against Montpellier in 2014. The following season was much less favorable. In constant struggle to maintain, he gave up his place ten days from the end, a few days after a stroke of blood against one of our journalists.
Laurent Peyrelade (2015-2022)
His adventure had started badly, with a sporting descent in 2016. Finally, the Raf was drafted into the CFA. The beginning of a meteoric rise, since with Peyrelade, Rodez experienced two climbs, in National in 2017 then in Ligue 2 two years later. By adding three holds at this level, he left a giant footprint in strapped-and-gold history. And this despite a surprise release two weeks ago.
