Former Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey signs free with Les Aiglons

He is a heavy signing for OGC Nice. At 31, Aaron Ramsey has 75 caps and experience at the highest level of international football. The former Gunner arrives in a leadership role to support Dante and compensate for the potential sales of Mario Lemina and Morgan Schneiderlin.

Nice did not have to pay for a transfer: Ramsey was released from his contract at Juve on July 26.

A bet to raise

The former Gunners maestro (371 games for 65 goals at Arsenal) is coming back to the Côte d’Azur in the hope of preparing as well as possible for the World Cup. He is coming off an injury-hit season with Juventus, who loaned him to Glasgow Rangers for six months mid-season. A loan that ended with a defeat in the Europa League final against Frankfurt, with a missed penalty for the Welshman during the penalty shootout.

Hired for a season, plus an optional one, Aaron Ramsey does not arrive alone because the Danish goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel, will also land on the Côte d’Azur. A transfer window finally launched for the Gym which still has to sell its undesirables.
