World No.4 Ons Jabeur and No.13 Coco Gauff qualified for the quarter-finals of the Berlin tournament.
Tunisian Ons Jabeur, 4th in the world, and American Coco Gauff (13th), finalist at Roland-Garros, qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin on Thursday.
Jabeur dismissed the American Alycia Parks (169th) 6-2, 7-6 (10/8) and will try Friday to join the last square of the grass tournament, preparatory to Wimbledon (June 27-July 10), against the Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovitch (38th). Last year, Jabeur won the first tournament of his career on the lawn of Birmingham before climbing to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.
For her part, Gauff dominated the Chinese Xinyu Wang (76th) 6-0, 6-4 and will face the Czech Karolina Pliskova (7th), finalist at Wimbledon last year. The American, now 18, made her name at the 2019 London Major when she reached the round of 16 at 15 after qualifying and beating Venus in the first round. Williams, yet a five-time winner. She has also just lost in the final at Roland-Garros against the Polish Iga Swiatek.
