During the general assembly of Lévezou Ségala Aveyron XV which was held at the Maison du rugby in La Primaube, the officials underlined the very positive results of the young people in the female cadet category, who played at 10 and who met the teams from Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Rodez, Figeac and Mende. Out of 16 matches played, the players have won 13, lost 2 and drawn one. They scored 716 points, conceded 107, which allowed them to finish the best attack in the regional championship of Occitanie at 10.
These good results allowed them to reach the final stages and end their journey in the semi-final of the Occitanie championship, losing the match against a very experienced Villefranche-de-Lauragais team. However, it was the quarter-final match that marked them, with a superb victory in Cassagnes in front of a large audience and in a festive atmosphere typical of the final stages. A superb memory for all the players, whether on the field, the bench or in the ranks of the supporters and a great reward also for their educators.
As we get everything from nothing, it should be noted that the cadets showed a lot of involvement and seriousness in their preparation, since the participation rate in the 70 practices of the season is higher than 85%. We can however regret the few competitions organized between October and January (less than one match per month) and certain long-term injuries.
The female senior category, created this year, had the pleasure of welcoming 27 licensees.
She was coached by Jean-Mathieu Bonal and Sébastien Vervialle, the healers being Magali Bousquet and Karine Escorbiac and the physical trainer Julien Couderc. Like the cadets, the seniors played 10 and were opposed, in the mixing phase, to Toulouse UC, Albi, Montastruc and Toac-Toec. In total, after 12 matches, they won 6 victories, which is very encouraging given the high proportion of beginners in the team which has an average of less than 3 years of practice. The room for improvement therefore remains high.
For next season, the numbers are supposed to remain stable and the team of educators should be supplemented by the arrival of Yohan Guinot, former player and former coach of the juniors. Jean-Mathieu Bonal can no longer ensure the mission of coordination for the 2 women’s teams, Frédéric Zérouali has agreed to take over the mission.
