Michel appointed coach of Olympiacos, with Anigo as sporting director

Olympiacos formalized this Wednesday two main changes in its organization chart, with the arrival of Michel as coach and José Anigo as sporting director.

Two former OM at Olympiacos. The Piraeus club formalized this Wednesday the appointment of José Anigo as sporting director and that of Michel as coach. For the Spanish technician, it’s a comeback since he had already led the team between 2013 and 2015, with two championship titles and a national cup.

For his part, Anigo has practiced in two Greek clubs since 2017, namely APO Levadiakos and Paniónios GSS. He was recently the director of the Olympiacos academy and will now combine the two roles, to ensure the transition between the different teams.

It was this same José Anigo who convinced Mathieu Valbuena in 2019 to join Olympiacos. At the end of the last transfer window, Cédric Bakambu signed up and Konrad de la Fuente was loaned earlier by OM to Olympiacos. Brazilian full-back Marcelo and Colombian attacking midfielder James Rodriguez, two former Real Madrid players, have also joined the team now designated by Michel.

After five championship days, Olympiacos is fifth in the standings with eight points. Free since October 2021 and a last failed experience in Getafe, Michal will therefore now be responsible for raising the bar. His first match will take place on October 2 with the reception of Atromitos.
