Saturday began the season for the senior boys of the CGHB, who received the Comminges Handball for this first day of the championship.
The start of the match was tight last Saturday. Neither team makes the difference until the tenth minute. At the end of the first period, the hills took off thanks to quick throw-ins and a defense that began to take over. The score at half-time is in favor of the locals (15 to 7).
In the second half, CGHB got off to a flying start, leading 22-11 in the 39th. From this moment, a looser defense and a wavering attack are found by loss of balls and easier shooting situations for the opponent who returns to 5 lengths from the CGHB.
Despite some fears, the CGHB seniors manage to maintain this gap to win: 29 – 23.
A word from the coach: “Home victory which feels good for my first match on the bench with the group. We have stress from the start but the boys are doing the job. The players have understood the system put in place, now on has a lot of waste in defense, and shooting in attack, which I attribute to the pressure. I am satisfied with the combativeness of the players with a special mention to our goalkeeper Maxime Castay who is having a very big game.”
Club open house
Note that these last two weekends were open doors near Plaisance and Marciac. Open doors which have been a great success in the U9 and U11 categories. There’s still time to come and try your hand at training!
Next week, a trip for the senior boys, but especially on Sunday at home, the senior girls will compete in their match against Trie-sur-Baïse.
