Puylaurens. Have fun playing tennis

The return to school in September is synonymous with a return to sport for the Tennis-Club de Puylaurens – Cuq-Toulza. For many years, the club has promoted access to the practice of sport for all, with the leisure side and the competition side, for those who feel motivated.

For history, the club brings together the two cantons, that of Puylaurens, where it resumed its activity in the “70s”, and that of Cuq-Toulza, since the “80s”. It now has 105 members, including 17 adults and 45 young people, aged 6 to 89. According to its president Jean-Pierre Bonnet: “It’s a very active club. We have several players present in competition and who obtain very good results. Among adults in particular. We participate in various events, such as the Cathar Challenge, the des Pyrénées with a team in regional 6. We also have young people in the Tarn championship, a team in the Young Trophy for 15-16 year olds and another in the Tarn Cup for 9-10 year olds.”

At the end of August, the club organized a two-day multichance tournament, open to young players. “This first tournament is open to boys aged 11 to 13 to get them started. This allows them to discover competition. They take lessons and put them into practice. We had eight participants, who delivered Saint-Sulpice, Bessière, Sorèze, Lavaur, etc.”, adds the president. In the process, the club organized two other tournaments, one open to players aged 11 to 16, who have more practice, and another for adults from 17 years old. The latter is part of the Tarn Grand Prix circuit. Last year, it welcomed 112 participants. The club reaches a wide audience, both those who want to play tennis as a hobby and those who want to compete. “Members taking pleasure in coming to play and have fun. Our club is located in a pleasant setting, near Lake Puylaurens. It has two clay courts, a covered hall, five courts spread over the municipalities of Puylaurens and Cuq-Toulza”, discovered Jean-Pierre Bonnet.
