Raducanu does not reassure before the US Open

Three weeks before the start of the US Open, where she will defend her title, the Briton was surprised in the quarter-finals in Washington.

The time to defend her title is approaching but Emma Raducanu still does not reassure. Three weeks before the start of the US Open, where she caused a sensation last year by remembering the surprise, the Briton was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Citi Open in Washington. Opposed to the Russian Liudmila Samsonova (60th in the world), the seed number 2 (10th in the world) lost in two sets. After a first set suspended until the tie-break, Raducanu let go in the second set (7-6, 6-1). Not enough to reassure the 19-year-old Briton, who has still not won a single title since her triumph at Flushing Meadows.

Her faller Liudmila Samsonova (60th) will face another surprise, the Chinese Xiyu Wang (95th) who took advantage of the failure of Belarusian Victoria Azarenka (20th) to win in straight sets (6-1, 6 -3).

The other poster of the last four will face the Estonian Kaia Kanepi (37th), who beat 6-7 (4/7), 6-4, 6-3 the Russian Anna Kalinskaya (71st), at the Australian Daria Saville (88th), who won 6-1, 7-5 against Canadian Rebecca Marino (111th), from qualifying.
