Robin Sciot-Siegrist and Edgar Catherine in the top 5 after the first round

Tricolors Robin Sciot-Siegrist and Edgar Catherine took their place in the top 5, two points behind leader James Sugrue. Ugo Coussaud and Paul Margolis are also in contact.

In Finland, the French did well in their first round of the Finnish Vierumäki Challenge. On the strength of its very good month of July, Robin Sciot-Siegrist continues on its source with a very solid 67 (-5). After a calm start to the game, the left-hander accelerated halfway with an eagle on the nine and birdies on the 11th and 12th. If a bogey slowed his progress on the 14th, two new birdies on the 16th and 18th improved his card.

The Parisian shares fifth place with Edgar Catherine. The player from Aix-en-Provence, starting from 10, started very well with five birdies on his first leg. His bogeys on his 12th and 13th were canceled by two birdies on his last two holes.

Both men are two strokes behind the only man in the lead, James Sugrue. The Irishman scored an eagle, six birdies and a bogey to record an excellent 65 (-7).

Ugo Coussaud and Paul Margolis followed closely

Ugo Coussaud and Paul Margolis are also in a good position after this first round. Both men returned a card of 68 (-4). If the first named, 24th overall, is in the race for a place on the DP World Tour in 2023the second absolutely needs points to try to save his card.

Of the thirteen tricolors involved, eleven signed a card under par. David Ravetto, Mathieu Decottignies-Lafon, Pierre Pineau and Clement Berardo (-3, 32nd) are still in the race.

Jeong Weon Ko and Felix Mory (-2, 52nd) are just on the edge of the cut. More complicated on the other hand for the amateur Martin Couvra (+2, 121st) who defended the blue jersey at the World Championships and Sebastien Gros (+6, 142nd).
