Midfielder Valentin Rongier has extended his contract with Olympique de Marseille by two years, until 2026, the Marseille club announced on Tuesday.

Rongier, an “intelligent, versatile and combative player” according to his club, played 117 matches for OM, scoring two goals, one against Angers, the other against Basel in the Europa League Conference.

He became a frame
The midfielder arrived in 2019 as a joker, at the very beginning of September, for 13 million euros – the agreement between Nantes and OM not having been concluded on the evening of the closing of the transfer window.
Born in Mâcon and trained at the “Canaries”, Rongier quickly established himself at OM under the direction of André Villas-Boas. Last season, he even sometimes moved laterally right under the direction of Jorge Sampaoli. He twice finished second in Ligue 1 with OM, in 2020 and 2022.
