Haute Vallée Aveyron rugby (Hvar) announced the death of its 39-year-old coach, Pierre Vernhes, Thursday August 4 morning on its social networks.
Pierre Vernhes is no more. The elected official of the city of Laissac and coach of Haute Vallée Aveyron rugby (Hvar) tragically lost his life in a road accident on Wednesday August 3 morning, at the age of 39.
His club announced the news on Facebook the day after his disappearance. “We learned with great sadness of the death of Pierre Vernhes, better known by the nickname of Boule. Off the field, Boule knew how to gather. Who does not have a counter anecdote with Boule, has never worn the green jersey and black. Boule was there for all the 3rd halves, all the trips, all the meals. Both to help and organize and to profit. Boule was one of those who were concerned, those who brought associations, clubs and other entities to life. which takes time for nothing in return. We send our condolences to his family and we have a very special thought for Camille and for Louis and Peio, his beloved sons.“can we read among others on the publication.
“A huge shock for the whole club”
The president of Hvar, Vincent Bousquet, had a hard time coping with this death. “It’s really difficult. Pierre was someone very important to us. It’s a huge shock for the whole club. I knew him when he was a junior with us, he was a good person. “He had been coaching for four years at the club. He was a real leader, who was attached and really got along with everyone”he remembers with emotion.
Before the accident occurred, Pierre Vernhes seemed to want to get even more involved in the life of his club. In addition to his coaching position, Vincent Bousquet reveals that he also wanted to resume his player license “to troubleshoot just in case” during the season. But he did not forget his role as coach, since he had already begun to prepare for the return of training, which was to take place in ten days, with Charles Cavalier, co-trainer of the club. “He gave instructions to the players to start preparing for the recovery. He was also active in recruitment”explains Vincent Bousquet.
The funeral of Pierre Vernhes will take place on Monday August 8 at the Rodez crematorium.
