If the crisis is declared among All Blacks of Ian Fostera mini-crisis is also brewing among Fiji ! After weak performances in the recent Pacific Nations Cup, which ended in the 3e place behind Samoa and Australia A, the ex-Fiji international Siréli Bobo (16 selections) lit up the players in the local press of the archipelago. The former winger Biarritzfrom Race 92of La Rochelleof Toulon or even the Paul spares no one and points out the bad behavior of the players. Vibe…

“What matters is the attitude of the players”

It is in the columns of Fiji Sun that the ex-serial scorer of the Top 14 (49 tries) gave a big rant. During the Pacific Nations Cup, Fiji had nevertheless hit Tonga in the first match (36-0) with an overwhelming domination in melee. But during the second home game, the “Flying Fijians” completely missed out, losing heavily to the A team (reserve) from Australia (18-32).

The last game was between Fiji and Samoa. Judged as a final, the meeting turned to the advantage of Samoa who won the competition. However, the Fijians led 17-3 before losing 23-20. Waisea Nayacalevu have thus finished at the 3e and penultimate place, just ahead of Tonga.

But for Sireli Bobo, it’s not Vern Cotter, the coach, who must be blamed: “A lot of supporters blamed the coach and his team, but they did their job. What matters is the attitude of the players and how they mentally prepare themselves to respond to a decisive game. The fact is that we lost here, at home, in our garden, against a team that barely beat us”.

“It’s totally unacceptable given the caliber of the players”

Untenable on the pitch, Bobo is intractable with the national team. Aware of the immense potential that the Pacific island has, the ex-winger adds: “It’s quite simply unacceptable given the caliber of players and the results we have. These players should learn to be proud of the white jersey, because they will not be playing for themselves, but for the loyal people. They have one enormous responsibility when they put on this jersey, but they smoke things lightly”.

“I don’t know if they know the culture, the history, the significance of the Flying Fijians jersey and the importance of representing their country. These players must know and understand their purpose. Why do they want to represent Fiji and who do they play for? asks Sireli Bobo. However, a year from the world CupFiji will quickly have to be loaned, since during the 2023 World Cup, they will face in the group stage Wales, Australia, Georgia and the winner of the repechage tournament which will take place in Dubai next November.
