Rugby Union: Three former players from Grenoble, including an ex-Carcassonnais, sent back to the assizes for violating

The Bordeaux Court of Appeal confirmed on Thursday the referral to the Assize Court of three former FC Grenoble rugby players implicated in a rape case in Mérignac (Gironde) in 2017, according to a judicial source. .

The investigating chamber confirmed the indictment issued on June 12, 2019 against the Irishman Denis Coulson, 28 (passed by the US Carcassonne during the 2019-2020 season), the New Zealander Rory Grice, 32, and Frenchman Loïck Jammes, 27.

All three are accused of having raped, in a meeting, a 21-year-old student on the night of March 11 to 12, 2017 in Bordeaux.

They had met her during a drunken evening after a match against Union Bordeaux-Bègles and, according to her, raped her in the hotel where they were spending the night. The players claim for their part that the young woman was consenting.

The magistrates also confirmed “the presence of sufficient charges” to refer to the Gironde Assize Court two other former Grenoble players, New Zealander Dylan Hayes (28) and Irishman Chris Farrell (29), for “non-prevention of crime”.
