Saverdun. Tennis: the 50th Guillaut Cup was a total success

With 158 participants, 262 registrations, 233 matches, more than 600 meals served, the 50th Guillaut Cup was a total success, both in terms of organization and in the final stages, which saw Argentinian players offer high-level matches to a crowded public place. Among the women, C. Pelka, ranked 4/6, won brilliantly against E.Halli-Obeid, ranked 3/6. Among the men, a great victory for Juan Belagarde, ranked 2/6 against Szoichet, ranked 3/6.

During the awards ceremony, President Jean-Pierre Eychenne was delighted with the enthusiasm generated by this 50th edition. He also thanked all the players, the organizing team, particularly specified, the Pamiers club for its important participation, the referee Audrey Laperche, the municipality and the partners.

The opportunity for the president to recall that with the revival of tennis in Saverdun, the project of a covered court, under study, must be carried out. “Indeed, there is a renewal in this club and a positive dynamic which justifies the project, because tennis in Saverdun is not confined to the Guillaut Cup”, replied the mayor Philippe Calléja. “We are making progress on the project,” confirmed departmental councilor Jean-Michel Soler.

The award ceremony ended with a dinner aperitif. Already, the organizers are preparing the 51st Guillaut Cup and the 2022-2023 season.
