The new Tarn tennis season has started again at the Tennis-Club de Lagarrigue, which organized its 27th Grand Prix du Tarn tournament. This first stage of the 2022-2023 circuit was open, as usual, to the 4th and 3rd series only.
As President Claude Leriche points out: “Participation was very satisfactory with 145 participants, an increase of 12% compared to last year.”
During his remarks during the award ceremony, the president made a point of asking the municipality for its subsidy and the repair of the lighting (probably at the origin of the increase in participation), the many partners, the friendly clubs who have lent their facilities and in particular the Cedars, the ASPF and Aussillon, as well as the kingpin of the tournament, the referee Laurent Gineste. “On the sporting level, among men, the presence of three Lagarriguois in the last four and the final victory of Martin Lapène are a great satisfaction for the club’s tennis school” welcomes its president. “In addition, in +45 years, David Calvet, already winner last year, retains his title. Bertrand Suquet is a finalist in +35 years and almost brought back the grand slam. Among the ladies, Pascale Bourniquel had the greatest difficulty to win against Fabienne Gibelli who had beaten Béatrice Fabre in +35 years the same morning.”
All the winners and finalists were rewarded and agreed to meet next year.
