The late arrival of the Sporting car at the Stade Vélodrome on Tuesday forced UEFA to postpone the kick-off of the match against OM by a quarter of an hour, scheduled for 6:45 p.m. In the regulations of the European body, it is specified that the players must arrive 75 minutes before the start of the meeting, while the Portuguese did not join the Marseille enclosure until about forty minutes before.
The reasons for this delay will have to be studied to find out if the Portuguese club will be sanctioned for this breach (most certainly with a fine). Incidents along the way may explain this incident. But the Portuguese could not object not to benefit from an escort, because it is not an obligation in the UEFA regulations.
In addition, the Sporting players came out of their locker room late, not allowing them to start at 7 p.m. For this second delay, it will be difficult to find an excuse. A disciplinary case will therefore most certainly be opened.
