Tennis, ATP – 2022 Washington Tournament: Korda out Dimitrov

American Sebastian Korda won two sets to one (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, seeded n°5 and reached the quarter-finals of the Washington tournament, at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Friday evening.

The match was interrupted by rain at 6-4 in favor of Dimitrov on Thursday but it continued on very different bases on Friday. It was the first match between Korda and Dimitrov.

Korda, the 54th player in the world at the ATP, will oppose Sweden’s Mikael Ymer in the quarterfinals of the Washington Open.

The 22-year-old American tennis player eliminated Belarusian Ilya Ivashka (6-4, 7-6 [5]), and had sharply beaten Argentinean Sebastian Baez, seeded n°12 (6-1, 6-4), earlier in the tournament. Dimitrov, 19th in the world at ATP, needed three rounds to dominate Frenchman Adrian Mannarino (6-1, 3-6, 7-5).
