Tennis, ATP – Seoul Tournament 2022: Shapovalov eliminates Albot

The Canadian Denis Shapovalov, seeded n°4, clearly dominated Radu Albot (6-2, 6-2) and reached the semi-finals of the Seoul tournament on Friday night session, at Olympic Park in Seoul.

This is his first semi-final since the Dubai tournament in March, where the Canadian was beaten by Jiri Vesely.

Shapovalov, the world’s 24th ATP player, will face American Jenson Brooksby, seeded No. 8 in the semi-finals of the Korean tournaments.

The Canadian had eliminated Spaniard Jaume Munar (7-5, 6-4) in the previous round of the Seoul Open. If he wins in the semi-finals, it will be the first time he has won three consecutive meetings since the Rome tournament in May 2022.

Albot, ranked 91st at the ATP, won against the lucky Japanese loser Hiroki Moriya (6-3, 6-4), and against the American Steve Johnson (7-6 [3]7-6 [3]).
