Tennis courts get a second makeover

The City continues to improve its sports facilities. In this sense, renovation work has begun on two tennis courts located at the René Char sports complex. “An essential operation for the players, one of the fields being over 35 years old”emphasizes Alain Moustelon, sports assistant.

After a change of lighting to LED bulbs to optimize playing conditions and reduce consumption, it is now the turn of tennis courts n°3 and 4 to be completely renovated with synthetic gas. This new surface will replace the old one which has become dilapidated and dangerous. In addition, it will provide playing comfort and allow the possibility of playing even in wet weather. For the president of the Tennis-club Bédarieux, Christian Garach, this renovation is a plus for practitioners: “The fields had become obsolete, with numerous repairs to be carried out. In a few weeks, practitioners will be able to benefit from a quality sports space with the possibility of playing in almost all weathers”. And to add: “During the works, access to the other tennis courts will be via the stands of the stadium.”

The total cost of the work amounts to €120,000, with the support of the Grand Orb community of municipalities, the Hérault department, the Region and the French Tennis Federation. A plus for the municipality and the tennis club with more than 180 members. Completion is scheduled for mid-October.

In addition to the two tennis courts, the summer season was put to good use at the René Char sports complex with the installation of automatic watering on court number 2. Work carried out by the technical service teams at a cost of €12,000.
