The Saint-Gilles open tennis tournament, which started on August 31, ended on Sunday September 18. More than 135 players competed on the club’s eight pitches. Thanks to the two covered courts.
The mayor, Eddy Valadier, and the sports representative Alain Vultagio came to see the finals and give the prizes. Sandro Cottino won the senior men’s final against Richard Willy, both from Tennis parc arlésien, 6/4 7/5.
The senior women’s final was won 6/3, 1/6, 6/1 by Juliette Clolus of TC La Grande Motte against Amélie Laurent of TC Saint-Gilles. Sophie Stevens, Saint-Gilles, won in +35 against Annette Yoel de Beaucaire 6/2 6/4. In +40 men with a hard-fought match, Guillaume Verlaguet, Saint-Gilles, won against Laurent Kolly-Chatel, TC Poulx 6/4, 4/6, 6/0. In +55 Hafid M.Dini Hafid, TC Nîmes, won 7/6 6/3 against Éric Ruotolo, Saint-Gilles. The prize for the best young rider was awarded to Anaël Vergé of TC Trinquetaille and the best women’s course to Stéphanie Alcon.
Julien Rodriguez NC won the end of the table 4th series against Joffrey Sevilla and the consoling woman was won by Marie-Ange Thiron from Saint-Gilles and the consoling man by Jérôme Royère from TC Marguerittes. Congratulations to the Saint-Gillois who were still six out of the eight finals and four of whom won.
It’s back to school for adult tennis school. Team matches begin this weekend.
