Hungary’s Anna Bondar, seeded No. 2, won two sets to one (6-4, 3-6, 6-1) against Slovenia’s Tamara Zidansek and qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament of Budapest on Thursday morning at the Római Tennis Academy in Budapest.
Bondar, ranked No. 52 in the WTA, will face the winner of the match between Dutchman Arantxa Rus and German qualifier Tamara Korpatsch in the Budapest Open semi-finals.
The Hungarian had radically dominated the Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto (6-2, 6-2), and had needed three sets to beat the Swiss Simona Waltert (5-7, 6-4, 7-5), in the previous rounds of the Hungarian tournament.
Zidansek, 100th player in the world at the WTA, had dominated the Hungarian wild card Fanny Stollar without being worried in the score (6-1, 7-5), and had eliminated the German Jule Niemeier (6-3, 7-6 ).
