Tennis, WTA – San José 2022 tournament: Kudermetova beats Jabeur

Russian Veronika Kudermetova, seeded n°9, won two sets to nil (7-6 [5]6-2) against Tunisian Ons Jabeur, seeded No. 3 and reached the semifinals of the San Jose tournament, at the San Jose State University Tennis Center, Friday evening.

Kudermetova, ranked 19th in the WTA, will face the winner of the upcoming match between Shelby Rogers and Amanda Anisimova in the semifinals of the California tournament.

The Russian had beaten the Italian Camila Giorgi in three sets (7-6 [2]4-6, 7-5), and had dismissed the American Claire Liu (6-2, 7-5), before her success against Jabeur, 5th player in the world at the WTA, on Friday.

The Tunisian tenniswoman had clearly dominated the American Madison Keys (7-5, 6-1).
