Chinese Qinwen Zheng won two sets to nil (6-4, 7-5) against American Claire Liu and won the semi-finals of the Tokyo tournament on Friday morning at Ariake Coliseum & Ariake Tokyo Forest Park Tennis.

Zheng, ranked No. 36 in the WTA, will face Russian Veronika Kudermetova, seeded No. 4 in the semifinals of the Japanese tournament.
