The Barbasol Championship, paying for the North American Golf Tour (PGA), was again interrupted by weather and darkness as Max McGreevy led the 3rd round, Saturday at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville (Kentucky). The American, who shared the lead of the tournament with the German Matti Schmid at the end of the second round, completed on Saturday morning, had a head start when the course was interrupted at dusk.
On Friday, a violent storm had already led to the suspension of the tournament. On Saturday, an even more severe storm caused the competition to be halted for more than five hours, with McGreevy and Schmid only starting the third round with roughly an hour to spare before dark.
For the first time, the Barbasol Championship is part of the American PGA and European DP World Tour, just like the Scottish Open which started on Thursday and which is attended by most of the best players in the world before the start of the British Open, the next week in St Andrews.
