The supporters of the Blues are still warming up…

Several days, the usual enthusiasm for the Football World Cup does not seem to live up to expectations. No fanzone, controversy, an entry of the French during the week, capricious weather… in short, a mixed start in Agen…

Agenais bars have, for the most part, made no exception even for the entry of the Blues last night in the competition (match won 4-1 against Australia). At the Gravier peristyle, for example, the restaurants and bars lived an evening without passion. At Rosmary’s, the room was two-thirds empty. “We did not advertise to promote the broadcast of the match even if we turned on the television for the customers present”, explains the manager. In India, the many televisions including the giant screen were on, the restaurant was full but the atmosphere was not that of the big game nights! No swimsuits, no make-up and wigs, no foghorns and raging fans. It was in relative calm that the customers ate while watching the match. Even if a few cries resound when the round ball approaches the nets, the euphoria was not there. “We are on weekdays and with the change of schedule, night falls quickly and people go out less! It’s a fact!” explains Mathieu, one of the establishment’s managers, before continuing: “The time of year doesn’t help either! People are used to living the Football World Cup in T-shirts and shorts! is not as usual”.

On the supporters’ side, some have fun with it like Frédéric, a student from Agen who landed in September: “At least we’re not on top of each other. But if we pass the towers, people will get moving and go out more many! Go Blues!” To be continued…
