The image was striking: during the very committed France-South Africa in Marseille on November 12, 2022, Thibaud Flamingo had lined up to pass his formal agitation. The Toulouse player had failed, thus seeing his autumn tour come to an end.

Second KO for Flament in a short time

In addition to the fall of Cyril Baille, the Toulouse stadium paid the bill during this international truce by recovering a Thibaud Flament who had just known his second hustle in a short turn of time.

“Thibaud was diagnosed with a concussion, and this is a second for him. His absence will be longer than a week. Regarding Cyril, you all saw that it was less serious than expected. They are medium-term injuries. We won’t get them back right away. It will be, I imagine, within 4 to 6 weeks, ”said the forwards coach, Jean Bouilhou, Thursday, November 24, 2022.

Flament followed, a point made every week

What you need to know is that the protocol for concussed players has been reviewed. Admittedly, the element concerned always passes the HIA 1 (immediately after leaving the field), HIA 2 (within three hours after the match, or before leaving the stadium) and HIA 3 (evaluation at 48 hours) tests. But there is no longer a scale stipulating the number of weeks of rest according to the number of concussions suffered by the player.

Today, the player is obliged to observe a 12 day break, against 9 before, before being able to resume. Above all, it is regularly monitored by the FFR/NRL referent in the matter. Once a week, the specialist meets the affected player, gives him tests, and judges whether he is fit or not. As a result, it is no longer as obvious as that to estimate the duration of absence of a player who has suffered a concussion.

Anyway, Thibaud Flament will not be present for the trip to Lyon on Sunday November 27, 2022 (9:05 p.m.), as will Baille, Chocobares, Cros, Jaminet, Fouyssac (injured), Dupont (suspended), Jelonch, Marchand, Ramos, Mallia and Ainu’u (rest).
