The current coach of Switzerland, Murat Yakin, said he was particularly touched by this sad news since it was he who had recruited the rough central defender, when he was at FC Thun, in 2009. “It’s sadly missed. Nicolas was part of our family”regretted the former rear of FC Basel, in remarks reported by our colleagues from Blick. “Nicolas fought with such courage and dignity against the disease. He was an exemplary man, always at the service of the team. It is so unfair that a young dad and such a wonderful person should leaving so soon…”lamented the Swiss coach.
