which of the Lions or the Gascons will emerge victorious?

By Jean-Baptiste Lathoumetie

In pool 5 of Regional 2, the La Brède-Villenave-d’Ornon agreement (6th, 14 pts) receives Union Rugby Gascon (5th, 18 pts) on Sunday November 27, an important meeting for both teams.

Last season, the two teams were already playing in Regional 2, but experienced diametrically opposed paths. Union Rugby Gascon (URG) seduced observers, finishing in second place in Pool 4, going as far as the quarter-finals of the French championship, not to mention the local final shield won in April. In pool 5, La Brède did not experience as many joys, with only one victory and a last place in the standings.

But times have changed a little bit. In order to avoid the descent into Regional 3 and to continue to exist in the long term, La Brède has in turn entered into an agreement with the Villenave-d’Ornon club. By joining forces, the Lions are making a successful start to the season. As for the Gascons of the URG, the euphoria of the last season has somewhat subsided, but they are still well placed in the race for the final stages.

The gap has therefore narrowed between the two teams, who are showing this season in the same pool 5. Only four points separate the La Brède-Villenave-d’Ornon agreement (6e14 pts) to that between Captieux and Grignols (5e18 pts), which announces an interesting poster to follow on Sunday at the Trigant stadium in Villenave-d’Ornon.
