Wimbledon > Gasquet can harbor regrets

Richard Gasquet will not find the second week of Wimbledon that he has known so many times during his career. He bows against the 25e Botic van de Zandschulp, not flamboyant but very serious, in four sets: 7–5, 2–6, 7–6(7), 6–1, in 2h41.

The French will regret his gross mistakes in key moments. He gets five set points at 5-4 in the first set before stringing together three double faults and offering the break to his opponent.

And that’s not all. While he had the opportunity to lead 6-3 in the tie-break of the third set, Ritchie again commits a double fault before ensuring, in his own way, to his clan that he does not even stress.

Gasquet had missed his chance. It will not exist in the fourth set. He comes out at 3e lap after a great run, at 36 years old.

Van de Zandschulp will challenge Rafael Nadal or Lorenzo Sonego in the round of 16.
