After a few days of rest, the 32 players of the XV of France Women retained for the Rugby World Cup (October 8 – November 12) met on Saturday September 17 with the CNR of Marcoussis for a final internship before flying off this Thursday for the New Zealandhost land of a staggered World Cup (it was to be held in 2021) due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We were happy to meet again. And we can’t wait to get on the plane to go to New Zealand, “commented the second line on Tuesday. Safi N’Diaye. On Saturday, upon their arrival at the CNR, the Bleues were treated to a small ceremony with the delivery of the jerseys by the Federation in order to mark the occasion and “show that the adventure is starting”. For those for whom it was the first time, he had provoked a very special emotion there.
Queyroi: “I didn’t expect it at all”
Versatile three-quarters of Blagnac, having honored his first two selections during the two friendly matches against Italy, Lina Queyroi admits a part of astonishment, but also “a relaxation” to be part of this list of 32 “I didn’t expect it at all to be selected for the World Cup. It is a pride for me. We had been training to be part of this list for 1 month, and to be on it is also a relaxation.
Safi N’Diaye, she will dispute her son 3e World. If for her this is nothing new, the second line of Montpellier does not know her happiness to be part of the adventure in New Zealand:
It is also a real pleasure for me. It’s a World Cup that I’ve been waiting for for a long time, it has been postponed, and it’s a pride to do my 3rd World Cup on rugby land in New Zealand, with all that that implies behind. And I do not hide being impatient to play.
N’Diaye: “I was like ‘get up and go train'”
Having obtained two bronze medals in 2014 and 2017, N’Diaye dreams of only one: “To be world champion”. “We have been working very hard for this for 5 years. I think about it every day when it’s hard in training. This adventure, she has done everything to be part of it, she who has to face big competition at her post (Audrey Forlani remains at the dock for example). “I was thinking that there was surely another girl in my position at another club who was training hard. I was like ‘get up and go train’.
At 34, this World Cup will be his last. And she really intends to make the most of it. “I saw it transformed. I’m going to take advantage of every moment, I’m going to savor the chance I have to be there, to share all the moments with the girls on the pitch or my experience, of each jersey worn… When we’re close to the end, we become more aware of the path traveled and we savor it. I’m at a point in my career where I’m savoring every moment, every moment, I’m taking whatever there is to take, and I’m positive every time”. Nothing would be more beautiful than to finish in the France team with a World Cup at your fingertips…
