WTA – Tokyo > Osaka: “Tennis-wise, I don’t feel like I can go in the wrong direction”

During a press conference before the start of the Tokyo tournament, Naomi Osaka, author of a complicated new year, shared her optimism. The Japanese is not worried about her tennis even though she hasn’t won a trophy since the Australian Open 2021.

“Since winning my first Grand Slam, every year I’ve been through so many changes. This season has been, without a doubt, a year of great growth for me. Tennis-wise, I don’t feel like I can go in the wrong direction. I think my base as a player is pretty solid, the only thing I can do is get to know myself better. I know I’m an aggressive player, and I hope I can follow those patterns. Off the court, I think it’s great to see how tennis has given me so many opportunities in areas that interest me. It’s something I’m grateful for, something I’m happy about, and one that I hope is justified in evaluating. »

The quadruple Grand Slam winner remains on four defeats in a row. She will make her entry in the running this Tuesday against Daria Saville (55e).
